Return on financial investment comes after 1.8 years, but other benefits come sooner. According to the 2012 MBAconnect.net Finweek MBA Life Impact Survey report, the non-financial returns include career advancement (with 77% of respondents citing this factor), either through a promotion or taking on greater responsibility at work, becoming a better and more effective leader (90%), having greater business knowledge and having access to high value interactions. Is an MBA right for me?
Leadership (Unknown - 10 August 2012)
Over the years the MBA degree has increased dramatically in popularity but many students may be registering for the qualification without realising the impact that studying for it would have on their personal lives. A recent research study conducted by MBAconnect.net examined the life impact that the MBA has on students and aims in its report to provide additional guidance for students considering applying for an MBA.
By focusing on the many issues previously ignored by traditional surveys, the life impact survey provides a balanced overview of both the positive and negative impact on the MBA student’s personal life and finds that the positive far outweighs the negative. It concludes that the MBA offers tremendous benefits to those who complete it, but warns that personal sacrifices will be required in the short-term and that these sacrifices must be taken into consideration when deciding whether to do an MBA.

South Africa's MBA Culture
The BLITZ Blog (Todd Rhoad - 25 January 2012)
Finweek, in conjunction with MBAconnect.net and FeedbackRocket.com, has just released their first research report on the impact the MBA has on the lives of students and graduates in South Africa. This survey probed the question on whether or not the MBA was a worthy endeavor and what impact this objective had on the lives of students and graduates. Over 1500 respondents shared their views on the good and bad of the MBA pursuit. This article explores a few of the key findings of the survey.
It’s important to note the overall message from the survey; that is, the MBA is worth the pursuit. Even though students and graduates felt the universities were failing to meet some expectations, they are still looking to the MBA programs to be a big part of their post-MBA career.

Mergers, Acquisitions... and Social Networking
iWeek Magazine (Laura Franz-Kamissoko - 06 December 2007)
MBAconnect goes live this month and it aims to do just that - connect MBAs.
Social networking is big. It's big because more than a billion of Earth's six billion people have subscribed to social networking sites, contributing to more than a quarter of all internet traffic. You also know it's big when the world's biggest software company, Microsoft, offers to pay $240 million for a 1.6% slice of the world's second biggest social networking site, Facebook (according to Nielsen//NetRatings).
But what's the inevitable reaction when something gets too big? People leave for a smaller, more personal experience. And that's exactly what is happening, even down here at the tip of Africa.
Social networking is 'going niche', and one such niche is the MBA (Master of Business Administration) fraternity.
